§ 2-101. Created; composition; terms.

(a)

An advisory board to be known as the "airport and transportation commission" is hereby created. Said board shall be composed of nine (9) members to be appointed by the city council and to serve without compensation. The terms of office of the members of the airport and transportation commission shall be three (3) years, but initially the city council will make appointments in the following manner:

Three (3) for a term of one (1) year;

Three (3) for a term of two (2) years; and

Three (3) for a term of three (3) years.

(b)

The successors of the members so appointed shall each be appointed annually in August for a term of three (3) years. All vacancies occurring in the airport and transportation commission shall be filled by appointment of the city council for the remaining portion of the term of the position so vacated.

(c)

The members of the airport and transportation commission shall be persons deemed by the city council to be interested in improving the transportation resources, facilities, systems and networks serving the Kirksville area. Any member may be removed by a majority vote of the city council.
