§ 2-16. Salary for elected officials.

  • The city council shall hold at least one (1) regular meeting every month. Special meetings may be called by the mayor at the mayor's own instance or upon written request of two (2) members of the council.

    The city council retains the right to increase or decrease the salary at any time after April 2005 in accordance with RSMo 78.590, to be payable quarterly. The city council shall not increase the salary during their term of office (Article VII, Section 13, of the Missouri Constitution). Effective with the election in April, 2015, councilmembers will receive compensation of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per month; and the mayor will receive three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month for attendance at all council meetings held during a month, including regular scheduled and special meetings. No compensation will be given if one (1) or more meetings are not attended during a month. At any time the mayor pro tem should preside over one (1) or more regular or special session council meetings in the absence of the mayor, the salary will remain at two hundred dollars ($200.00) per month for the councilmember serving as mayor pro tem. The city clerk will record attendance and prepare timesheets for payroll processing. Compensation will be payable after time served, the first payroll following the end of the quarter.
