§ 25-85. Water emergencies or drought.

  • (a)

    The city manager shall have the authority to establish reasonable restrictions on the use of water by customers in the instance of water main breaks, major fires, pollution or contamination to the water supply, deterioration of the quality of the water supply or other emergencies that threaten the public water supply system. Prior to the restrictions becoming effective, the city manager shall make every effort to ensure that the public is made aware of the problem and the type of restrictions being imposed.

    (b)

    The city council shall approve any long-term water usage restrictions such as during a drought and shall establish penalties for violation of such restrictions.
