§ 16-13. Alternative community service.

  • (a)

    Authority of municipality judge. The municipal judge for the city or the person performing the duties of the municipal judge may order any person who (a) has been convicted, or (b) has received a suspended imposition of sentence for violating an ordinance of the city, whether the original punishment be by fine or imprisonment or both, to perform alternative community service, as defined in this section, as a condition of probation or in lieu of a fine or imprisonment or both.

    (b)

    Defined. Alternative community service may consist of service on the public streets, highways and alleys or other public works or buildings or public grounds of the city and such other nonprofit organizations in Adair County approved by the municipal court judge.

    (c)

    Number of Hours. The municipal judge may determine the number of hours of alternative community service that a person shall perform under this section.
