§ 25-97. Uses permitted.

  • In district M-2, no building, structure, land or premises shall be used and no building or structure shall be hereafter erected, constructed, reconstructed or altered except for one (1) or more of the following uses:

    (a)

    Any use permitted in district M-1, except dwelling houses, clubs, hotels, educational and institutional uses, provided that the necessary watchman, caretakers, etc., will be permitted to live on the premises of industrial plants;

    (b)

    Manufacture of any similar character to that specified in district M-1, or any building or use not included within district M-1;

    (c)

    Any other uses not now or hereafter prohibited by this Code or other ordinances or the city regulating nuisances; except, that the following uses shall be permitted only by approval of the city council, after report from the health department, fire department and city planning and zoning commission:

    (1)

    Acid manufacturing;

    (2)

    Automobile wrecking yards, if enclosed within an approved solid fence or wall at least eight (8) feet high, which must effectively screen in all automobiles contained therein;

    (3)

    Cement, lime, gypsum or plaster of paris manufacture;

    (4)

    Distillation of bones;

    (5)

    Electroplating works;

    (6)

    Explosive manufacture or storage;

    (7)

    Fertilizer manufacture and storage;

    (8)

    Garbage, offal or dead animal reduction or dumping;

    (9)

    Gas manufacture;

    (10)

    Paper or pulp manufacture;

    (11)

    Petroleum or its products (refining of);

    (12)

    Poultry killing or dressing for commercial;

    (13)

    Sale barns;

    (14)

    Smelting of tin, copper, zinc or iron ores;

    (15)

    Stockyards or slaughtering;

    (16)

    Wholesale storage of gasoline and L.P. gas;

    (d)

    Accessory uses customarily incident to any of the above uses.
