§ 25-24. Noise.

  • Any use established after the effective date of adoption or amendment of this chapter shall be so operated as to comply with the maximum performance standards governing noise set forth hereinafter. No use already established on the effective date of adoption or amendment of this chapter shall be so relocated, altered or modified as to exceed the maximum performance standards governing noise set forth hereinafter.

    (a)

    Objectional sounds of an intermittent nature shall be controlled, so as not to become a nuisance to adjacent uses.

    (b)

    Notwithstanding any other provisions of this chapter, at no point along the boundaries of any residential district or commercial district shall the sound pressure level of any individual use permitted exceed the prescribed levels of the following table:

    Sound levels shall be measured with a sound level meter and an associate filter manufactured according to the standards prescribed by the American Standards Association. Noise levels shall be measured from the exterior lot lines of the land which a complaint has been received.
